Arm Lift

Brookfield Arm Lift

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, can be performed to address the excess skin and fat of the upper arm.

The best candidates for this procedure are patients with a moderate to significant amount of loose skin and upper arm fat, often referred to as the bat wing.

Arm Lift Procedure Milwaukee

A long incision is made from the elbow to the armpit. The incision is positioned so it is hidden with the arm down.

If patients have mainly fat, good skin tone and minimal excess hanging skin, then liposuction alone can be performed. In extreme cases both liposuction and skin removal is necessary. This may require two operations to accomplish the desired goals.

The post-operative recovery is generally 2-3 weeks before strenuous activity can be performed.

A compression garment is worn for about 2-3 weeks to keep the swelling and bruising to a minimum.

Benefits of Brachioplasty

Patient Concerns with Scarring

The only disadvantage with brachioplasty is the inconvenient appearance of a scar. Most patients want the procedure without the evidence; however, it’s nearly impossible to alter the body without some sort of mark. The benefits far outweigh the drawbacks as your confidence and self-esteem sky-rockets drastically.

Scars fade over time- over a series of months, or even years, scars do fade. Let your body heal naturally.

Make-up can be used for cover- there are tons of products out there that help ease your concern with visible scarring. Head to your favorite makeup counter and choose the right skin-tone color for you.

Scar vs hanging skin- ask yourself if you would rather have the excess skin hanging or a scar on a tightly-toned arm. Chances are, you’ll conclude that no hanging skin is the best option.

Scar creams- your local drugstore has a variety of scar-disappearing creams. Ask your pharmacist which brand is best for you.
