What Are Common Pregnancy-Related Skincare Concerns?

Pregnancy can sometimes cause excess oil production, leading to acne and breakouts on the face, neck, chest, and back. Treating these breakouts during pregnancy is challenging because many acne-fighting ingredients aren't pregnancy-safe. Our Aestheticians can help recommend the best acne-fighting products from our extensive pregnancy-safe list to keep breakouts at bay.

Skin dryness during pregnancy is often caused by hormonal changes that make it more difficult for your skin to retain moisture. While you may be able to find a moisturizer that works well on the body, the face needs special medical-grade skincare moisturizers that are gentle yet hydrating but won't clog pores and cause breakouts.

Hormonal changes in pregnant women can cause Melasma and can be very difficult to treat on your own, and unfortunately, many of the common Melasma treatments are not pregnancy-safe. One of the most important ways to prevent Melasma is by wearing Physical SPF daily and reapplying it every 2 hours. With the right combination of skincare products, we can help prevent it from worsening and keep it under control until post-pregnancy, when we can develop a treatment plan to help reduce the pigmentation.

Why Do Pregnant Women Have Skincare Restrictions?

Why Do Pregnant Women Have Skincare Restrictions?

Going from using any products and having any treatments you want to being so restricted can feel overwhelming, but these restrictions are put in place for a good reason. Even if a treatment isn't used on the abdomen area, the body absorbs products in a way that can impact what the baby is exposed to. Injectables and laser treatments can potentially stress the body and be harmful to an unborn baby too. You'll find that even with all the restrictions here at Bonness, we offer plenty of products and treatments that will help keep your skin glowing throughout the entire pregnancy & beyond!

What Treatments and Products Are Pregnancy-Safe?

Pregnancy HydraFacial

Here at Bonness Medispa, we offer a pregnancy HydraFacial that includes cleansing, dermaplaning, manual extractions, a mask, and a pregnancy-safe HydraFacial booster and post-care products.

Dermaplaning is a manual method of exfoliation, shaving away the topmost layer of the skin. Because it does not involve chemicals, it is the safest exfoliation treatment for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Dermaplaning can be done on its own or with a regular facial treatment. We include Dermaplaning in our Pregnancy HydraFacial treatments as well!

Medical Grade Skincare

Our Aestheticians can help build a pregnancy-safe skincare routine for you to follow pre-, during, and post-pregnancy. While many ingredients may be off-limits, plenty of completely safe products will help keep your skin healthy, hydrated, and glowing through every stage of your pregnancy!
