What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty, often referred to as a “nose job,” is a surgical procedure designed to reshape the nose and bring balance to the face. Because the nose is such a central and defining feature, even subtle changes can have a dramatic effect on your overall appearance and self-confidence.
The nose is a uniquely complex structure. Its upper portion is made of bone, while the lower portion is formed by intricately shaped cartilage, covered by skin and supported internally by delicate mucosa. During rhinoplasty, Dr. Rowe may adjust the size, shape, or proportions of the nose, refine the nasal tip, correct asymmetries, or alter the alignment of the bone and cartilage to create a natural and balanced result.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

To ensure you are an appropriate candidate for Rhinoplasty, we begin with an initial consultation.
The initial consultation is a 45 minute appointment. You will spend the first 30 minutes meeting with Dr. Rowe and our Medical Assistant. During this time, we will collect a health history and do a physical assessment. Your surgeon will cover all of the basic aspects of Thighplasty Surgery, and you will be able to ask any questions that you may have regarding the surgery. After your surgeon has completed her portion of the consultation, you will meet with one of our surgical coordinators. During this time, we will provide you with a quote for your surgery, discuss financing options and explain the next steps in moving forward with your surgery scheduling.
Types of Rhinoplasty
There are two main surgical approaches to rhinoplasty, both approaches may involve reshaping or reorienting cartilage, adjusting bone structure, or altering the nasal tip. Dr. Rowe tailors the surgical approach to your anatomy and aesthetic goals.
Open Rhinoplasty
Involves a small incision across the columella (the strip of skin between the nostrils) with additional incisions hidden inside the nose. Open rhinoplasty allows the surgeon greater visibility and precision, making it ideal for more complex cases, such as reshaping the nasal tip or correcting significant asymmetries.
Closed Rhinoplasty
Involves small incisions entirely inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scar. While it offers a quicker recovery, it may be better suited for patients requiring less extensive changes.
What to Expect Post Rhinoplasty
After a rhinoplasty, you may have splints placed on the outside of your nose as well as soft nasal packing inside to support healing. Small sutures will also be in place, which are removed during a follow-up visit.
Initial swelling typically improves within a few weeks, allowing you to see early changes. However, because of the nose’s delicate tissues, swelling may linger and fluctuate for up to a year before the final results are fully revealed.
