Most patients tolerate the Moxi Laser treatment extremely well. During treatment, our Aestheticians will move the Moxi handpiece across sections of your skin. You may feel slight heat and prickly sensations in the areas being actively treated. This new Sciton device allows for much quicker treatment, rather than the traditional pulsed “stamping” method used during a traditional BBL laser treatment. The treatment is quick and easy, lasting roughly 15-30 minutes.

Moxi delivers fractionated laser energy to create micro-injuries in the upper layer of the skin. The body then replaces those damaged cells with new ones, resulting in textural and tonal improvements for total skin renewal! Key differences are: Moxi can be used on any skin type, at any time of the year, and can improve skin texture.

BBL uses the power of light to target the pigment within the skin. The intense pulsed light (IPL) used in Sciton’s BBL device is the fastest way to treat pigment, sun damage, and troublesome age spots anywhere on the body. Key differences are: BBL targets pigment deeper within the skin, often requiring fewer treatments. Unfortunately BBL does have skin tone and seasonal contraindications, offering less flexibility for patients.

You can resume daily activities immediately without restriction. The day following your treatment, your skin may appear red with tiny red dots called mends. However, you can apply makeup 24 hours after treatment and they should be virtually undetectable. Within 3-5 days the mends will slough off, revealing the renewed skin beneath. Because the Moxi laser is non-ablative, the post care instructions are simple—stay out of the sun and wear SPF.

A single treatment will improve the appearance of the skin, however best results are achieved with a series of treatments. Most patients receive a series of 3-4 initial treatments and then can switch to regular maintenance treatments throughout the year. Treatments are typically spaced about one month apart.
