Thermage uses radiofrequency  to heat  the skin to tighten and stimulate more collagen gradually over time. The procedure is done in the office and takes between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.  Down time is limited to minimal swelling and redness that will resolve by the following day. Patients can expect a mild to moderate improvement in the loose skin that is treated. It is best for patients that have a mild to moderate amount of looseness but may be too early for surgical intervention.

How does it work?

Thermage uses radio frequency to gently heat the skin. The target is collagen. The building blocks that provide structure to your skin. This deep heating causes the collagen to tighten and the collagen forming cells to produce new healthier collagen.

What areas are most commonly treated?

Thermage addresses  laxity or sagging. Common area are the lower face and jowls, the nasolabial fold (the groove from the  cheek along the nose), and the forehead to obtain a modest brow lift.  Thermage can also be used on the upper eyelid to tighten and lift the lid skin. 


Can Thermage be used on the body?

With the advancement of new larger tips Thermage is now being used on all areas of the body to tighten and lift the skin.  The very best results are with surgery but in areas where this is not possible or in patients that want to avoid an operation Thermage will be beneficial.


How long does a treatment take?

The treatments are done in the office and take between 30 min to one and a half hours depending on how many areas are treated. The procedure although not completely comfortable is tolerable. Various topicals and relaxants can be used to help you complete the treatment.

How long will the results last?

The treatment produces some immediate tightening with continued gradual improvement over time. Results unfortunately are not permanent and will last approximately 24 months.

What can I expect from a treatment?

After your procedure you will be slightly pink. This will resolve over the next 2-6 hours. Some patients see immediate improvement and others a gradual improvement over months. Results will vary from patient to patient, your age, overall skin health and laxity. In this office we also combine the Thermage with other skin heating lasers to achieve maximum skin tightening.

How many treatments will I need?

A single session with Thermage will produce results in the majority of patients. If a patient sees results and request more of an improvement more sessions can be scheduled.
