Restylane® and Juvederm® are both hyaluronic dermal fillers.  They can be used to fill just about any wrinkle in the face.  The only exception being the very fine lines under the eyes.   These procedures are done in the office with minimal discomfort.

Restylane and Juvederm are natural fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin. They are  composed of Hyaluronic acid a natural sugar found in the skin. There is no risk of an allergic reaction or disease transmission. The results of Restylane will last 6 months and Juvederm about 9 months.  By combining with Botox results can last even longer! 

How is it administered?

Restylane and Juvederm are injections, just like collagen. A small needle is used to inject the filling material into the wrinkle. The treatment is done in the office. Prior to treatment a local anesthetic may be administered to minimize discomfort.

Are there risks?

Unlike bovine collagen there is no risk of an allergic reaction or disease transmission. After treatment the areas of injection are slightly red and elevated. This will decrease over the following days.

How long does the result last?

The effects of Restylane and Juvederm are visible immediately and last approximately 6-9 months. The time frame can be increased by a touch up done at about 3 months or by combining it with Botox. Studies of combination treatments have lasted for up to 18 months.
