Radiesse® is a facial filler that delivers an immediate long lasting result. Radiesse is made up of very tiny smooth calcium hydroxylappatite microspheres and a gel carrier. The microspheres form a scaffold through which your own collagen will develop resulting in a longer result . Radiesse should last 10-14 months! Because lines and folds occur on the face together Dr. Bonness will frequently recommend combination treatment with both Radiesse to address the deep fold and a hyaluronic acid to address the superficial line.
How is it applied?
Radiesse is a white gel that comes in a tube. It is injected just under the skin, slightly deeper than other fillers. Radiesse is thicker than other fillers so a larger needle is used. To make your procedure more comfortable a local anesthetic is injected prior to the Radiesse. The procedure takes approximately 30 min depending on the areas treated.
What can I expect after the treatment?
The results are immediate. You will see the lines and folds plumped up. There will be a slight redness and swelling in the areas injected for about 24 hours. Make-up and normal activity can be resumed right after the procedure.
What areas are commonly treated?
Radiesse is used in the face just as other fillers. Where the hyaluronic acids may be better suited for superficial lines or etchings, Radiesse is best suited for deep folds. Common areas include the nasolabial fold, marionette lines along the chin, jawline to hide the jowls, and for cheek enhancement.
